ODAR-91 - Taros

ODAR - 91 scores a kill against Crisis Suits at Tungusta Chapel.
Organization

Storm Troopers form a single regiment, which is unique in that it is a permanent unit, receiving a constant influx of new recruits to keep it up to full strength. By virtue of its members having been recruited from the progena of the Schola Progenium, the regiment made up of soldiers from worlds throughout the Imperium. With up to ten thousand men under arms at any one time, the regiment is also larger than most other regiments. However this huge force does not fight at a single place; individual companies or battalions are instead sent to war zones, and from there, individual Storm Trooper squads are spread among the other regiments as required.

The Storm Trooper unit assigned to a warzone provides a core of elite squads, which are entrusted to carry out important missions requiring more training and initiative than possessed by the average Guardsman. Storm Trooper squads are effective at spearheading assaults into heavily fortified positions, infiltrating behind enemy lines and sowing confusion and panic. They are often dropped into the thick of combat from Valkyrie Assault Carriers, guns blazing before they even touch the ground.

Storm Trooper recruits are chosen from the progena of the Schola Progenium, where they have been raised and educated, and molded into loyal and dedicated servants of the Emperor. They are then taught superior battle tactics and the use of more advanced equipment than the average Guardsmen.

The regiments to which the Storm Troop squads are attached often regard the inimitably dedicated and better equipped Storm Troopers with a certain amount of animosity, referring to them by such names as 'Glory Boys' and 'Big Toy Soldiers'. Regardless of the opinion of the average Guardsman, none who witness Storm Troopers in action can deny they are worthy of such titles.

ODAR(-91)

Basic Element - Stormtrooper Force Operational Detachment-A (ODA) A Stormtrooper Force company usually consists of five ODAs (Operational Detachments-A) or "A-Teams." and one ODAR (Operational Detachments-A Recon) or "Eyes Team". However the number of ODARs can vary from company to company, with each ODAR specializing in an infiltration skill or a particular mission-set such as; Grav Chute Freefall, combat diving, mountain warfare, desert warfare, maritime operations, or urban operations.

An ODAR consists of 10 men, each of whom has a specific function on the team, however all members of an ODAR conduct cross-training. The ODAR is led by an Detachment Commander, usually a Captain, and a Assistant Detachment Commander who is his second in command, usually a Warrant Officer One or Chief Warrant Officer Two. The team also includes the following enlisted men: one team sergeant, usually a Master Sergeant, one Assistant Operations and Intelligence Sergeant, usually a Sergeant First Class, and two each, Weapons Sergeant, Engineer Sergeant, Medical Sergeant, and Communications Sergeant, usually Sergeants First Class, Staff Sergeants or Sergeants. This organization facilitates 5-man "split team" operations, redundancy, and mentoring between a senior specialist NCO and his junior assistant.

ODAR-91 Equipment/ TO & E

Hot-Shot Las Gun - The Hotshot Lasgun is a heavily modified las weapon used by the Imperium of Man. The hotshot lasgun is commonly issued to Imperial Guard Storm Troopers, while the hotshot laspistols are issued to Storm Trooper Sergeants and/or high-ranking Imperial officers. Their lasbeams are designed to pierce the armour of heavy infantry, such as enemies in power armor. The magazines used to feed ammunition to the weapon is a supercharged external power pack, providing a higher degree of armour-piercing, which none but the hardiest enemies can withstand. For its armour-piercing purpose, the hotshot lasgun is much more powerful than the bolter, but retains the stopping power of a lasgun.

These lasguns are extremely complex, and as such are difficult to manufacture and exceedingly rare. They require reinforced barrels, thermal-cooling cells and gyro-stabilized power packs. Only a few forge worlds are capable of producing such weapons. Troopers issued such weapons are also supplied with a variety of replacement parts, as firing the weapon puts much more strain on it than a regular lasgun. They are also extensively trained in the repair and maintenance of such weapons, and Storm Troopers are even able to rebuild the weapons completely, if necessary. The Departmento Munitorum rarely issues such weapons outside of Storm Trooper companies.

Hunter Killer Missile - The Hunter-killer Missile is used by the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters and is a common upgrade for vehicles. They are effectively krak missiles with massively extended range, although only one is mounted on a vehicle due to the vast increase in size.

A-22 & A-21
Tauros Venator - The Tauros Venator is a further modified version of the Tauros. The principle change being the replacement of the standard anti-infantry weapon with a heavier weapon such as an Autocannon or Lascannon. The increased energy/munition reserves required for this weapon means the rear of the vehicle has to be extended and an extra pair of wheels installed to maintain vehicle stability. These modifications prevent the Tauros Venator from simply fitting into a standard Valkyrie, they are thus carried into combat by Sky Talon Valkyries which are equiped to deal with heavy loads.

The heavy weapons and high manoeuvrability of the Venator variant make it a favoured vehicle employed by ODAR-91, who faced the reality that they would often be left without the heavy support needed to take on enemy armour after a grav-chute or Valkerie assault into enemy territory.

C.A.T.
C.A.T -  Is a low cost robotic platform used by Stormtrooper units for the inspection of suspicious objects. It is one of smallest and most commonly used robots in the Imperium and looks like a small toy truck with an elevated mast on which a camera is mounted. This camera is used to look, for example, behind doors or through windows without placing Stormtroopers in danger. It is capable of running for 6 hours on a set of fully charged batteries.

LRAS3
LRAS3 - The Long-Range Advance Scout Surveillance System (LRAS3) is a long-range multi-sensor system for the Imperial Stormtrooper Regiments, providing the real-time ability to detect, recognize, identify and geo-locate distant targets. The LRAS3 is the premier ground combat reconnaissance and surveillance system on the modern battlefield. The LRAS3 enables Stormtroopers to conduct 24-hour reconnaissance and surveillance missions, remaining outside threat acquisition and engagement ranges. The LRAS3 replaces obsolete systems that require Stormtroopers to close within direct fire range of the threat they seek to detect.

RHINO Counter IED
RHINO - The Rhino system is a passive counter-passive infrared tool that joint forces have come to rely on due to its simplicity and effectiveness. The Imperial Guard funded an expedient solution developed in the field to defeat PIR-triggered IEDs utilizing a boom-mounted glow plug that causes PIR-initiated IEDs to detonate prior to their intended targets entering the kill zone.

lASCANNONS - The Lascannon is a formidable weapon, capable of piercing most vehicle armour and killing powerful and heavily armoured troops. The fact that it has a slow recharge and expends its power in a single blast against a single target makes the weapon a poor anti-personnel weapon.
The primary difference between a Lasgun and a Lascannon is the size. While the Lasgun is easily handled by a Guardsman, the Lascannon requires special housing. Due to their enhanced bodies however, Space Marines may carry them integrated into their Power Armour. Each Lascannon charge pack is good for only one shot. This means it has a slow rate of fire due to the need to change the pack after each shot, and the packs cannot be recharged like those of a Lasgun. The power of the Lascannon means that the barrel is damaged quickly but can easily be changed, much like the Lasgun.

They are very reliable as the technology has been perfected rather than scrounged from STCs. As such they are the preferred weapon type by many Imperial Commanders as, even though other weapons may have other advantages, the reliability of the weapon is most important on the battlefield.

Lascannons, due to their high strength and reliability, are often mounted on tanks. Here they are often twin-linked to improve their accuracy. Many tanks can have sponson or hull-mounted Lascannons to provide them with a secondary weapon to their primary turret in case it is damaged. Lascannons are a common sight amongst the Imperial Guard, but less so in the ranks of the Space Marines, who rely more on melta type weapons.

Naval Stormtrooper AFO-61

The Imperial Navy's Sea, Air and Land Teams, commonly known as Naval Stormtrooper, are the Imperial Navy's principal special operations force and a part of the Naval Special Warfare Command as well as the atmospheric component of the Imperium's Special Operations Command.
The unit's acronym is derived from their capacity to operate at sea, in the air, and on land. In the War on Taros, AFO teams have been utilized almost exclusively for land-based operations, including Direct Action, Hostage Rescue, Counter Terrorism, Special Reconnaissance, unconventional warfare and foreign internal defense operations.

Single AFO Operator
Taros

In the immediate aftermath of Denab Incident attacks, Naval AFO teams quickly dispatched to Camp Doha, and those already aboard Naval vessels in the Deneb sector and surrounding zones began conducting VBSS operations against ships suspected of having ties to or even carrying Tau operatives. AFO teams 38 and 82 also began rotating into Taros from Naval Ships and staging on the island of Masirah outside of Tarokeen for operations in Taros. One of the AFOs' immediate concerns was a lack of adequate organic land mobility platforms to conduct special reconnaissance (SR) missions in the rough, landlocked terrain of Taros. After borrowing and retrofitting Tauros Venators from the Imperial Guard also staging on Masirah, the AFOs inserted into Taros to conduct the SR of what would become Camp Rhino, as part of Operation Taros Freedom (OTF).
